Bulk cleanup of archive list

Is there a way to keep only the books that are currently on my kindle, and permanently delete the rest? I download a LOT of books on my kindle, and then 'delete' (i.e. remove from my kindle) a lot of them after reading because they're not worth keeping (although I keep a lot, as well).

There are two reasons I want to do this - firstly, if I occasionally want to find a book to read on my phone (while waiting at the dentist, for example), I have to browse the entire archive which includes the books I've 'deleted'. And there's no way I can recognise which I deleted and which I didn't.

Secondly, I had to replace my kindle due to cracks on the casing, but I couldn't just let it download all my books over again, since it would download all the 'deleted' books as well. Again, I don't want to download all the books in my account; only the ones that I didn't remove from the device.

Essentially, I want to do a bulk cleanup of my archive. I know I can delete books one by one, using MYK, but since there's a lot of them, and I can't remember the titles of the ones I do or don't want, and there's no way to distinguish which have been archived ('deleted') other than by looking each one up on my kindle to see if it's still there.... well, it's rather a daunting task!

(I do realise there's a downside to cleaning out that archive list - if I do try to buy a book, not realising that I tried it and didn't like it, Amazon won't know and will let me buy it again. I do love my kindle, but the book management aspect is sadly lacking - and don't get me started on categories!).

Actually, you can easily choose which books to download to your device from the Archive (now called Cloud on some devices). I'm not sure if you can do bulk downloading of selected books, but you can certainly do them individually.

Once you delete a book from your device, it remains in the Archive (Cloud) in case you ever want to access it again. You can delete books from the Archive (Cloud) but doing so permanently deletes them which means if you ever want to look at it again you will have to re-purchase it. So be cautious not to delete from the Archive (Cloud) any books you would like to keep stored.

My previous post probably didn't answer your questions very well.

Unfortunately there is very little organization possible with the Archive (Cloud). We wish it allowed more than just listing items by title or author or date. I find it is easier for me to keep books on my Kindle/phone which I might want to read in the near future. That is, I pre-determine which books in my Archive (Cloud) I will likely want to read in the next few weeks and load them unto my device. That way I don't have to fish through a large list in the Archive (Cloud) to find one that looks interesting.

I read somewhere about doing this via Your Media Library on Amazon instead of the Manage Your Kindle page. You can certainly select more than one book at a time from there, not sure if you have to empty the trash folder as well to make them completely disappear?

Thanks - that should make it easier than deleting books one at a time! I guess what I''d really like is for amazon to store metadata on their server - such as whether the book currently resides on a device or not, when it was removed, etc. But this a start!
