newbie :-) question on reflow pdf and epub
Hi all,
sorry for a (maybe) simple question. I got my Sony PRM T1 a few days ago and copied my free pdf files onto it. I was confused that I could not change the font size. I read a few threads in this forum and learned: there are text pdfs that reflow (well) and text pdfs that do not reflow I used Calibre to create epubs from those pdfs and unfortunately they also do not reflow. Question from a "newbe": - can I see somewhere in an pdf file if this is "well" reflowing or not? - can I change the pdf to a well reflowing pdf, e.g. "reflow tag" - can I create a well reflowing epub from a text pdf that does not well reflow, e.g. via calibre Thanks for some guidance. Cheers, bj. |

Hi all,
after some additional hours of reading and experiments I come to the following preliminary answers. Maybe someone of you has more positive creative ideas: 1. can I see somewhere in an pdf file if this is "well" reflowing or not? -> check the zoom function within acrobat reader 2. can I create a well reflowing epub from a text pdf that does not well reflow, e.g. via calibre -> seems this is not possible 3. can I change the pdf to a well reflowing pdf, e.g. "reflow tag" -> here I am not clear yet. I read about sigil and book designer software but don't know if they support this. Any idea? |

Maybe it would be better to ask your further questions in the pdf (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=184) or workshop (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=178) subsection. And welcome to MobileRead, bj999! ![]() |

bj999,
allow a question: What do you do on your reader to get "reflow"? You must not use any kind of zoom, but go to font-selection and chose a font-sizer other then standard. Epubs in general should always reflow, maybe except of those created from PDF's consisting only of scanned "pictures" of the pages without any actual text in them. |
