You may have a borked reader. Return it if you can, open a help ticket if you cannot.

Mine just bricked itself. (And it never got any better since their second fw and if anything went downhill!)
1. Factory Reset -> Restoring to Factory blah blah... -> flashy LED -> power off 2. if you power on goto step 1 Thing's a total POS as is their firmware. So tomorrow morning I'll be out and moving onto a Nook Touch or another Sony as both are actual quality *gasp* yes quality devices unlike this POS which has been nothing but trouble. (I've had mine since July 2011 and had their older WiFi reader which was OK(crappy fw again but not nearly as craptastic as their touch. I know that I'd be able to get warranty but I've had it with their crap quality, so it's not even worth the money to ship it to them to "fix"(i.e. replace with another new or refurbished one). |

Do you have an SD card in it? If so, try a reset with the card out.

Nope did that too. Now in possession of a non-shite shiny new Nook Simple Touch... buh bye Kobo and no thanks for the horrendous last year of self-resetting, multi-tap page turns, self corrupting of dbs, etc.

Well... it's been several(almost 1/3 of a year actually) months now, and boy I CERTAINLY do NOT miss multi-tapping to get pages to turn.
I use the nook simple touch quite a bit, i.e. as often as I did my kobo touch, and I've had NONE of the problems with the nook that I did with the kobo touch. So much happier with the Nook Simple Touch that I wish that I had switched to a different brand sooner instead of futilely hoping for a fix via fw with kobo. (Of course I just did that with ATI too... awful drivers(and they're damned quick to drop support of GPU models)... back to nVidia and happier again.) |

My experience was similar. I returned the (early) Kobo Touch and bought a Nook Touch, and it was rock-solid. I finally wound up with a Sony 950, which has also been stable.
I've lost patience with annoyingly buggy devices, and Kobo has yet to show any stable software, but, in the spirit of forgive and forget, I plan to try a Kobo Mini for its promised typographic capabilities and physical size, if they ever actually get around to selling them in the U.S. I'll buy it from NewEgg, as I've had good experience with their returns policy. |
