can someone please help as apparently the drives are missing from the kindle and windows isnt seeing it , therefor i cant transfer books from calibre to kindle as calibre isnt recognising the kindle , how would i correct thedrives in the kindle , thanks

I have downloaded calibre successfully, plus downloaded Adobe Digital Edition books from library. When Kindle is connected to computer, they are on it; however, when I disconnect Kindle from computer, books do not show up on the screen. Any suggestions? Is this similar to what is happening with yours?

@dave maden: If you have another computer on hand, try there (not necessarily within Calibre, just seeing if you actually can get it to pop up reliably in the Explorer is a start).

You might also try another USB cord, and after a full restart of your Kindle ([HOME] > [MENU] > Settings > [MENU] > Restart).

@books55: Nope, not relevant. Although ADE is for ePub files, so I really hope you're not just putting epub files on the Kindle, because, yeah, obviously, that won't work .

I might just give up since I really don't know what I am doing with electronics.

@books55: If you really don't know what's going on, your best bet might be to just mail the file(s) to your Kindle email (check the 'Personal Documents' section of the 'Manage Your Kindle' page over at amazon).

books55, do not download epubs from the library. Choose the Kindle ebook option. Assuming you have that option wherever you are. Most larger public libraries in the US now have both Kindle and ePub versions of most ebooks available. The Kindle versions download directly from Amazon, no ADE needed.

widows is seeing the kindle in devices and printers , but in windows explorer its in drive G , but still cant get the "send to device " icon to appear in calibre so i can send books to kindle . ive done a restart on kindle , please help

First update your calibre, current version is 0.8.69. If that did not work then post in the calibre forum.

have updated calibre and got the send to device icon up when i highlight the book and click send to device, it says its sending it and says one job in bottom right then 0 jobs but cant see the book on the kindle screen list of books , yet if i click on device icon the book is in there with all the other bookkks i have on the kindle , please help

How many pages of titles do you have on your Kindle? Perhaps there is a problem with the sort order and you're just not seeing it on the first page? If Calibre indicates the title is on your Kindle, it should be on one of the pages in your home screen, though not necessarily the first page.
