EBView for the iLiad?

I have a wish to use EPWing format dictionaries on the iLiad. So I'm wondering if Adam B. or any other porting geniuses can port a software called EBView.

EBView Manual:
http://ebview.sourceforge.net/help/en/index.html

Source Code of the latest version:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/e...w-0.3.6.tar.gz

You may need GTK+ 2.2.x or higher and EB Library 3.3.2 or higher.

The latest version of EB Library:
ftp://ftp.sra.co.jp/pub/misc/eb/eb-4.3.tar.bz2

Web page for EB Library (Japanese)
http://www.sra.co.jp/people/m-kasahr/eb/index.html

You can mail the distributor of EBView in English:
deep_blue@users.sourceforge.net

I'm sorry that most documents are in Japanese, but I think the install procedures follow the standard.

If you succeed to build a copy, test it with this dictionary:
http://openlab.ring.gr.jp/edict/fpw/...ebd-fpw1.0.zip

And look for "Diadem" and verify whether the hyperlink at "See CROWN" works.

Thank you.

I read in this forum that some apps for Sharp Zaurus might also run on iLiad (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7079). And I found "zten" is a EPWing reader on Zaurus (http://wiki.gohome.org/zten/)(http:/...ng_format.html). Somebody please have a test. My iLiad is still on the way because I just ordered it. When I am familiar with iLiad, I will also give it a try.

Some apps for pdaXrom are known to be compatible with the iLiad, but zten is not one of them. It's for Qtopia ROM. There is EBView for pdaXrom though, and thus it might run OK on iLiad without recompile or with only slight modification.

By the way, lots of dictionaries in Mobipocket format are available on the iLiad and I'm quite satisfied with alternative dictionaries for those I'd been using with Zaurus.

Has got EBView a English menu, too?
It can see localisation files in the tar file.
The Readme is in Japanese.

I think it has, although I'm not sure. In fact I can not understand Japanese, but a poor translation by Google says it can be localized by a proper compile option. And I'm already using EBWin on my XP machine with full English menu. EBWin is available here:

http://www31.ocn.ne.jp/~h_ishida/

Mail the distributer linked at the first post if you are interested in porting it. He must be Japanese who can speak English.

No, he doesn't really speak English. And I doubt he'll share the code.

igorsk, I guess you've said about Ishida. But what I'm saying about is Kenichi SUTO who is already sharing the code.

Oops, I'm confused, too. I'll make it clear. The distributor of EBView is Kenichi SUTO, and the distributor of EB Library is Motoyuki Kasahara. Mail Suto rather than Kasahara. Kasahara does not seem to be able to speak English. So mail to:

deep_blue@users.sourceforge.net

I have built EB Library and EBView with official SDK. But it doesn't execute rightly on iLiad. I don't know what's wrong.
