Kindle to Kindle on different Amazon accounts

Evening all.

First time in here and already found some great stuff to help me along.

My wife has a couple of ebook conversions on her Kindle. They weren't bought from Amazon and were converted from another format. Is there a way to move these across to my Kindle which is on a different Amazon account to hers?

I have copied the files across but my Kindle doesn't even appear to see the content. I'm puzzled

Thanks.

From one account to another, no. However, since these are not DRM protected you can send them from your computer to each Kindle's unique email address.

To do so, go to the Manage Your Devices page for each account and lookup the unique email address listed beside each Kindle. From your PC/Mac send the book via email to each Kindle using the email address that Amazon has assigned to it.

This process will actually turn book into what Amazon calls a Personal Document, in this case in two different Kindle accounts. The book is now stored in the Cloud for each account and each account can download it from the Cloud to any other registered device within that account.

If the books don't have DRM, it doesn't matter which account the Kindles are on. You can drag and drop the files into the documents folder, when the Kindle is connected via USB, or email the file to the Kindle, assuming it is in a supported format. If the format is not supported by the conversion email service, you will have to use Calibre or other software to convert it to .mobi format.

Yes, you can drag and drop it into the Kindle via a PC/Mac and USB cable. This method will not place it in the Cloud though. The Cloud might not be important to you, but if it is use the email instructions. Also use the email instructions if the other Kindle is located somewhere else. For example she is at work and you are at home and she wants the book before she comes home. As long as she has WiFi and/or 3G connection she will receive it.

Assuming that you are simply moving the files from Kindle to Kindle, and the files are non-DRM as they open on the original Kindle, as long as they are in the "documents" folder of the second Kindle, there is no reason for them not to appear on that Kindle's menu.
