Kindle 'dead' line of pixels?
This is my paperwhite and the issue is a bit annoying - I might 'live with it' but the thing is, when I do that, then when I decide to upgrade and sell my old one, I have to sell it with an issue, which may make it harder to sell.
Would you contact Amazon for a new one with this issue? This line is consistent - when I read in landscape mode, it goes down vertically and just messes up the letters in that area. It's about 2/3 down from the top of the screen. |

I assume you've tried rebooting and a factory reset? If so, I'd request a replacement.

I would definitely not keep it.

Did a reboot, then a total reset, and the line is still there.

i would definitely not accept that. i was annoyed by a few bright specks, that would drive me absolutely insane. just more quality control issues

The example is certainly not normal -- I would contact Amazon for a replacement.

Thanks for the reassurance. I always feel I'm being too nit-picky and still felt that way when I was chatting with Amazon, but knowing you all would return it, too, made me feel better. A replacement is on the way

That looks like a problem with the screen controller circuitry. Definitely get a replacement - it's a hardware fault.

I would also have returned it. Hope you'll get a good unit next.

I got my new one today. Looks good so far. I noticed the lighting/screen is a little warmer in color - which is a good thing in my book.
Well, here, I'll post a picture. Even with my iPod Touch camera you can easily see the color difference. |
