Georgette Heyer Birthday Week Sale - $2.99 at Sourcebooks

Similar to last year (from what I hear), Sourcebooks has marked their Georgette Heyer books to $2.99. I've done a quick check on a couple of titles at Amazon, but they don't seem to have price-matched yet.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MS. HEYER! All Available Heyer eBooks $2.99 – 8/14-8/20/12

Thursday, August 16 would have been Georgette Heyer's 110th birthday. In honor of this most beloved author, who many call the Queen of Regency Romance, Sourcebooks is discounting EVERY SINGLE one of the eBooks we currently have available to $2.99 for one week, getting Heyer's Birthday Party started early on August 14!

That's 52 books by Georgette Heyer, plus the fabulous reader companion, Georgette Heyer's Regency World by Jennifer Kloester, available for $2.99 from August 14-August 20.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MS. HEYER!

Considering the sale doesn't start until tomorrow, it's not surprising that the prices haven't dropped yet.

Anyway, these will be cheapest at Sourcebooks' Discover a New Love club where members will get them at 25% off on top of the $2.99, and the discover15 coupon code may or may not still be working. And they'll be DRM-free MultiFormat there. (Not all books available to all regions, but a good chunk of them sold worldwide.)

Here's their Discover Georgette Heyer page with the introduction to her works and the suggested reading guide by type.

Mind you, if one doesn't want to shell out the $9.99 for the 6-month membership (which gives you 6 free book credits for selected feature titles and ~40% discount on pretty much everything else in the store), they should be couponable once price-matched at Kobo, and eligible for Books on Board auto-discounts and Rewards bucks.

Several of the Heyers have been offered as freebies previously (and Black Moth is public domain in the US), so one might want to check one's archive before buying.

Myself, I'll be picking up all the romances I skipped last year and any historicals I might have missed. I read all the mysteries last year and if you're morbidly curious as to what they're like, my impressions in the Reading Recs forum: Inspector Hemingway/Hannasyde series; standalone mystery/suspenses; freebies Footsteps in the Dark & Cotillion, which led me to splurging on the lot of the non-romances last year.

Well, I'm an idiot - seriously thought today was the 14th...and I can't really blame it on lack of coffee either...
Sorry for jumping the gun, everyone.

It's much better to post it a day early than a day too late.

Eh, it just gives people time to get prepared for tactical combat shopping and planning which of Heyer's 50+ plus available books they really want to get (if not just picking up everything not already owned, like I plan to*).

* Hey, it saves time. Though admittedly not money.

I just sent out an email to a friend who is a bit Heyer fan asking for recommendations. So I have to agree, a day early just gives me more time to plan (and to search under the couch cushions for money).

I also bought those I was missing:

Spoiler:
A Civil Contract
April Lady
Beauvallet
Charity Girl
Lady of Quality
My Lord John
Pistols For Two
Powder And Patch
The Spanish Bride

I bought 9 books for a grand total of $17.78 ($1.90 x 7 + $2.24 x 2). I was able to use the discover15 code on all except two books (My Lord John and The Spanish Bride).

For some reason my credit card was giving problems so I bought a gift certificate with my Paypal account and then bought the books. It was a hassle but I seem to have avoided the taxes in this roundabout route *shrug*

I went through the list and I own all but her Mysteries. I'm not sure if I would enjoy those or not.

Looks like B&N is discounting them now. My wife missed these last year, so perhaps she'll pick some up this year.

I have read most of her mysteries (still have a couple in my TBR), and I enjoy them. They're not as funny as her Regencies, but she is a good writer with a deft turn of phrase, and I definitely was glad to buy them and read them the last time Sourcebooks did this.

This time around, I'm buying the remaining 7 books that I somehow missed the first time I had a Heyer buying orgy. Several are historicals, but there are a couple of her Regencies in there that I somehow missed.

People who think they picked up everything last time should re-check their lists.

Sourcebooks went and published several new Heyer reprints since the last sale.
