epub to mobi question
I converted a 2.9 MB epub using Kindle Previewer and got a 3.9 MB mobi file, but converting the same book using Calibre I got a 1.3 MB mobi file. Both look OK (well, as good as an e-book can look, which is - let's face it - not very good). I tried, unsuccessfully, to unpack them to see how they differ. Can anyone enlighten me?

The current Kindle tools covert ePub to a combination file that contains both KF8 & Mobi. Calibre is converting to just one format.

Many thanks, JS. I think I see what's going on. Which of the mobi files - Kindlegen or Calibre - should I send to Amazon? Either?
