0.8.63: zooming in viewer

I tried to read via the viewer a comic in .cbr format in full screen format. As the text-balloons in the pictures were quite small I tried to find a zooming option, but failed to locate it. Right clicking offered a "reload" option, which to my surprise did indeed reload the page in an even bigger format: not big enough but it certainly was more readable.

However, this "feature" is certainly not a replacement for a real zooming function. My question: does the viewer indeed "lacks" zooming?

If you select show/hide controls in the right click menu - you should see a tool bar with zoom in and out buttons - they have an 'A' and Up/Down arrows

In Windows Calibre - Ctrl Mouse Wheel zooms in and out

I'm looking at EPUB & MOBI - CBR may be different.

calibre's viewer is not really designed for comics, you are probably better off using a dedicated comic reader for that.

It may indeed be missing a zoom feature for image based books such as cbr. I use Windows 7 as my OS and it has a built in magnifier feature that would work well for you. If you use Windows you can find it under All programs, Accessories, Ease of access. I pin it to my task bar to easily find it.

All: sorry for my late response, but I did not used the computer lately.

@BetterRed: Indeed, but that feature did not worked for pictures, only fonts are affected.

@Kovid: I understand. However, also normal "books" sometimes contains pictures or maps and such. So a limited zoom function could be quite handy.

@dwanthny: That might indeed help. However, the default Windos 7 previewer works also fine for me. I extract all pictures and use the previewer to zoom to my liking.

I can see Kovid not wanting to add zoom for images. Maybe an option to open the image in an external viewer? That could be handy as when I read a book that has a map, I am always referring back to it. Opening it in a separate window would make that easy.

New "view image" function with basic zooming works perfect in 0.8.64.
Thanks Kovid!
