Managing series

Hi,

Can some experienced Calibre user point me to how to build series hierachies, e. g.

series A
subseries A1
subseries A1.1
...
subseries A2
subseries A2.1
...
series B
...

Second question: Is there a way to determine how this structure is being presented in the tag browser (sequence, horizontal alignment etc.)?

Best regards

Totally Alphabetical (Alpha-Numeric)
so if you want the sub series in a certain order. put a number first
Code:
series A
series A.101Foo
series A.102Able
series A.201Mickey
series A.2.202Cat
series B
Each series in the hiarchial includes the parent. dots are the next layer

Using your numbers. I could have done it : series A.1.01Foo but that would put another Plus to expand in the tag browser

Using numbers as you proposed will give me the intended order, but each series (regardless wether with or without dot) is presented as a an individual entry, not as a subseries.

What I am looking for is a presentation which is similar to how folders are being shown in Windows Explorer: subfolders (i. e. subseries) are beneath their root folder (i. e. series) and shown with a small offset to the right. They just have their individual names without repeating the root name. This scheme continues underneath the subseries if needed. The next series then starts far left etc.

Go to Preferences>Interface>Look and Feel>Tag Browser>Categories with hierarchical items

Add series to it.

For the saving book to device I use the below. It does not make folders for subseries instead adds the sub series name to the title.

Code:
Ebooks/{tags:re([\.],/!)|!|}/{authors[0]}/{authors}/{series:subitems(0,1)||/}{series_index:0>5.2f| | - }{series:subitems(1,10)| | - }{title}
Chaley gave me a few different save to templates to try you can get them here if that one does not suit your needs
