Metadata on One "Page"
Sometime last year I found a way to fill in all of the metadata info on one page instead of having to click between the "Basic" and "Custom" metadata tabs. I've recently installed Calibre on a new iMac, and I can neither remember what I did, nor find the info I used before. I went over all of the settings on my PC version, but came up empty.
Help, much appreciated. Thanks. |

Can't blame you for not finding it, it is placed on the wrong option in my opinion. It is in Preferences -> Behaviour => dropdown called "Edit metadata (single) layout".
IMO it should be within Preferences -> Look and Feel - this setting is to do with appearance, not behaviour ![]() |

Oh Goodness! I never would have found that again! ![]() ![]() I agree with you; "Look & Feel" seems like a more natural fit. |

I noticed that the Custom metada tab lets you set the reading list and read/not read status if you have those columns defined.
What else would show up on that tab, based on user-defined columns or plugins? I'm adding this tweak to my documentation, and would like to be as complete as possible. Thanks! |

I've removed some of mine, as I find I don't really use them any more, but it includes/included: A yes/no check box for whether or not a book is currently on my Kindle, yes/no check box for whether I've read the book, place of purchase, cost, number of words & pages, as well as a couple of other things. |

ID: metadata_edit_custom_column_order
Controls the order that custom columns are listed in edit metadata single and bulk. The columns listed in the tweak are displayed first and in the order provided. Any columns not listed are dislayed after the listed ones, in alphabetical order. Do note that this tweak does not change the size of the edit widgets. Putting comments widgets in this list may result in some odd widget spacing when using two-column mode. Enter a comma-separated list of custom field lookup names, as in metadata_edit_custom_column_order = ['#genre', '#mytags', '#etc'] |

Thanks Nyssa for asking, kiwidude for answering and Kovid for doing it.
Maybe the preference setting could be replicated on the Metadata Panel itself. It is amazing how many things I wish for in Calibre are already there, if only I knew where to look. If my bank granted me as many wishes I'd be a millionaire. ![]() BR Last edited by BetterRed; 07-27-2012 at 11:17 PM. |
