The 22 rules of storytelling, according to Pixar
"On Twitter, Pixar storyboard artist Emma Coats has compiled nuggets of narrative wisdom she's received working for the animation studio over the years. It's some sage stuff, although there's nothing here about defending yourself from your childhood toys when they inevitably come to life with murder in their hearts. A truly glaring omission.
#1: You admire a character for trying more than for their successes. #2: You gotta keep in mind what's interesting to you as an audience, not what's fun to do as a writer. They can be v. different. #3: Trying for theme is important, but you won't see what the story is actually about til you're at the end of it. Now rewrite." http://io9.com/5916970/the-22-rules-...ag=free-advice |

Good article. Thanks for sharing.
At the very least, I would take heed to what Pixar says. They seem to know a thing a two about storytelling, IMO. That 'Up' meme comes to mind: "Pixar created a better love story in 8 minutes than Twilight did in 4 books." Sad, but true. |

I must have seen this on another forum I guess, not finding it here. There are good tips and yes Pixar knows how to tell a story.
