Would you buy an MP3 player from Amazon?
I am curious anyone else would I like to see Amazon enter the MP3 player market. I recently purchased an iPod classic looking for something to hold all my audiobooks. The classic was the only player I could find with over 100 go of storage. It crossed my mind, thinking Amazon might actually put out a decent player, but then again they refused to give us card slots on our kindles.
Or maybe MP3 players are fading and entering a market in its decline isn't smart? |

They seems to be merging with mobile phones these days. I used to have a standalone iPod. These days, my iPhone is my MP3 player.

I agree. But the problem with audiobooks is they take up so much room. Before the classic, I had 5-6 on my phone, 5-6 on each nano, 12 or so on my kindles, etc. I constantly needed to delete and redownload. It became a hassle.
The explosion in digital content has been meet with smaller and smaller storage devices. |

I'm very happy with the Sansa Clips. They have excellent sound quality, tons of features (including a card slot), and budget pricing.

Can't see any reason why Amazon would move into this market. Best value is definitely to get the Sansa Clip 8Gb and combine it with a 32Gb microSD card. Not as much as the iPod Classic's 160GB but then it costs an awful lot less.

I did get my MP3 Player from Amazon. I got a Sansa Zip Clip 4GB. I got it during Black Friday so I only paid $30 for mine. I got a 16GB card in it and I use it only for Audiobooks.
It plays Audibles, MP3 and WMA Audiobooks. My Android devices can't play WMA. My Library mainly carries WMA Audiobooks. It's really small about the size of a matchbox and it clips on anything like your shirt, pocket, sleeve....etc. This little player does so much. It has a built in radio, voice recorder and plays alot of formats. It really does have good sound quality for such a little thing. What's the biggest perk for me is the WMA Audiobooks don't expire on the Clips. So if I am in a middle of listening to an Audiobook I'm not stuck waiting 50+ back in line to check it out again to finish it. |

I suspect that Amazon would start producing mp3 players about the same time as they brought out their own buggy whips.
It would most likely not have a card slot. I was grudgingly willing to accept the lack of slot on the ereader. To get me to accept an mp3 player or a tablet with no slot, they'd have to give it to me free. And I'd still look it in the mouth. |

No. I'm really happy with my six year old Apple iPod Nano and my 5 year old Apple iPod Touch.

I think I've got enough devices that play MP3s. I just wish I knew where my Zune went, I know it's lying around here somewhere.

I already did buy a MP3 player from Amazon, the Kindle Keyboard. Meets my needs, and works a heck of a lot better than record players did.
P.S It's also a lot better than tape players were, what with the tape breaking or jamming. Last edited by SteveEisenberg; 06-28-2012 at 09:09 PM. |

Audible was one of the first companies to put out a portable MP3 player. They own some patents on the technology. Since Amazon bought them, I assume they own the patents now.
I guess I am in the minority looking for storage over multi-use. I would love to transition away from iTunes. Here is a link to amazons listing (no devices available of coarse) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/ima...F8&img=3&s=mp3 Last edited by KindleChickie; 06-29-2012 at 10:40 PM. |

Those Sansa players are awesome. We have one too. LOVE that SD slot. Could care less about having it on my devices though, I clean out my download folders on my devices and computer more than I clean my room.
The Zune is great. I have one of those sitting around too. Amazon's MP3 player would have to be pretty good to get me to buy one. Maybe even like a 3.5 inch Kindle Fire carousel with the covers, and with the Amazon MP3 interface. |

I always have my iPhone with me, so I see no point in carrying around another device.

I tend to listen to music on my phone or tablet, but if it was a reasonable price, I'd consider it. The mp3s that I have that weren't ripped from my CDs come from Amazon anyway.
