Generally you will be looking for/sideloading books in the ePUB format. Your easiest choices are either DRM free or with Adobe Adept flavour of DRM. The Touch manual is pretty good reading for folks who are new to this.

Other formats (for example Kindle books with their DRM) require removal of DRM (may or not be legal depending on where you live) and may require conversion to another format.

http://manybooks.net/ Large collection of free books, and while many are sourced from Gutenberg, it looks they have a bit of a clenaup, decent covers etc. while a lot of Gutenberg's seem to have a generic cover that's no help in the covers view of your ereader - prime example being the Kobo displaying 5 covers, not much help if they are all generic!

Also your local public library as AnemicOak says.....you'll need Adobe Digital Editions installed and your touch registered to it.

Check Computeractive's website, they did a step-by-step "Workshop" on all this in their mag Sept-Oct 2011 "Borrow eBooks from your local library".

Once your set up it's easy peasy to download eBooks...................usually.
