i have no idea how i managed to disable your ability to PM me - it may have to do with the fact that i was trying to change may contact email address to one i use more regularly, but that didn't quite seem to work either, so i've now reverted to the original one, which may also mean that you are now able to PM me again? - but in any case, thanks for your swift reply.

i'll try and get the hang of all of this quickly so you won't have to intervene again! :-)

That's correct: We do this in order to control spammy posts from new members who are interested only in spamming us, rather than participating in our community.

In about 2 weeks and 10 posts, then you will have the ability to create a signature. It must follow our guidelines, or we will delete it.

(actually: just looking at your avatar again properly, it's nowhere near as intimidating as i thought it was; somehow it lodged itself in my brain much more fiercely than it really is. so you may ignore that observation!) :-)
