I'm trying to convert RTF file containing Cyrillic text into EPUB format in Calibre 0.8.56. Here is what I get (I tried different input character encoding options):
Invalid RTF: Tokens not ascii encoded. 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xd8 in position 4: ordinal not in range(128) Error at line 1877 Exception in token processing (Error Code: 1) Traceback (most recent call last): File "site.py", line 132, in main File "site.py", line 109, in run_entry_point File "site-packages\calibre\utils\ipc\worker.py", line 191, in main File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\convert\gui_conversion.py", line 31, in gui_convert_override File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\convert\gui_conversion.py", line 25, in gui_convert File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\conversion\plumber.py", line 979, in run File "site-packages\calibre\customize\conversion.py", line 208, in __call__ File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\conversion\plugins\rtf_inp ut.py", line 244, in convert File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\conversion\plugins\rtf_inp ut.py", line 103, in generate_xml File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\rtf2xml\ParseRtf.py", line 247, in parse_rtf calibre.ebooks.rtf2xml.ParseRtf.InvalidRtfExceptio n: Invalid RTF: Tokens not ascii encoded. Based on one of Kovid Goyal's comments, I tried HTML workaround: saving RTF file as HTML using UTF-8 encoding and then converting HTML file to EPUB in Calibre. It works, however the result is not as good as normal RTF->EPUB conversion.
Thanks, -- LK |
