Download epub from public library
Hi, up till now my wife has been reading epub books by downloading them from the local library onto our desktop computer and and transferring them by cable from Calibre to her Sony PRS 950. Works very well.
When accessing the public library via wi fi however, she selects her title, and, when trying to download, she is asked to install Flash and is presented with a number of Linux options. None of these options are accepted by the Reader, none will install. What are we missing? |

The 950 Sony firmware doesn't allow file downloads from the browser. The newer model T1 does. You might want to do a search on PRS+ firmware in the Developer's subforum at the top of the Sony forum. PRS+ is firmware developed by Sony ereader fans who have added in features that are missing. You could see if they have added the ability to download library books.

I installed PRS plus, but it doesn't appear to offer that facility. I couldn't see anything among the options and tried again to download in case the option was automatically added, but nothing happened. Thanks anyhow.

It's not a feature of PRS+, although PRS+ puts the 950 at the top of the class of e-readers with the features it adds.

Downlaod from unprotected, non-login-sites is added by PRS+ (see 950_bootstrap.js)
Spoiler:
But as the PRS-950 browser dosn't support cookies download from protected sites isn't possible. Please direct further questions about this to the PRS+ main thread Last edited by Mark Nord; 06-14-2012 at 06:21 AM. |
