I've gotten a 32GB iPhone ever since they became available (starting with the 3GS, now on a 4S). For a phone, 32GB is enough capacity for me. I use just around 20-24GB on my iPhone. If price of the subsidized 64GB model drops to $299 or lower, then yeah I might upgrade. Otherwise, I'm fine with 32GB.
If I didn't use it for music, 16GB would be more than enough. |

64 GB, had a 32GB model before. I *could* go with 32GB, but never below that. I have far too much music/books that I'd like to carry around with me all the time.

I don't use mine for music (I have an 8GB iPod nano for that), nor for video (have an iPad for that), but I do use my 8GB iPod touch for podcasts because I can set it to download them automatically, and I find that it's usually filled most of the way up. Next time I might move up to 16GB to give a little more breathing room, but I can't imagine ever needing 32GB unless I was using it as a music or video player.

I have a 6.4GB iPod touch 4. Since it lacks a card slot, I only use it for streaming net radio (BBC, Pandora, TuneIn Radio, etc) and listening to audiobooks and podcasts (public library, BBC, Audible, iTunes U, etc).
Because of its lack of storage space, I don't store music or videos on it; and only keep a few audiobooks and other audio content on it at any given time. Overall, it's a great audio device and lives in a speaker dock at home. Outside the home, I use the far more capable Galaxy Player 4. |

I wonder if there's anyone that uses an iPad as their primary music player, and how cumbersome that is to use. I have zero songs on my iPad right now because I can't think of a purpose for having them on there yet. |

I use the built in audio player when I'm reading on it, or when I'm cooking in the kitchen and looking at recipes - Works fine for that.

My 32GB iPhone 4 is my primary "music player" - although most of my "music" is actually audio books and BBC radio programmes. The 32GB model was the largest available at the time I bought it. I may buy an iPhone 5 (rumoured release date is October) and if there's a larger capacity model available then, I'd certainly get that.
My iPhone is basically a music player and a mobile internet device. I probably make about 1 phone call a month on it ![]() |

I bought a 16 Gb iPhone a few months ago. I still have some available space on it, but I expect that I will reach a point, as I did on my iPad, where I will have to make choices.
For now it contains all my music collection (which is very small), a couple of podcasts, all my videos (mine as made by me, that's about 20 short films). Plus a growing number of books, right now about 20 I think. Also a few map/gps apps that I think may take up a lot of space. It's hard to know exactly how much space one app takes up. I suspect that the info given in iTunes shows only the space taken up by the app itself, but not necessarily the documents created or downloaded with the app. |

No, the space shown for an App includes its documents. The exception to this is iBooks, where "Books" are shown separately.

I always purchase the largest they sell at the time. Sure, 16 gig may actually be enough but I am the type of guy that will get the top of the line one for the heck of it

Thanks for all the replies. I think if I get the 4S I will get a 32GB. I will probably wait til the WWDC and see if one is announced or at least the beginning of June so I will be within the 30 day return window. Hopefully if I decide on the 4S they will be reduced and they will still allow you to buy any of the capacities, not just the lowest one.
