Talking Owner of a new KT

After reading/lurching on these forums since I first got my K2. It has sadly been retired due to a cracked screen. It's still readable but the last 3 lines of the screen require a font increase/decrease in size in order to read them.

Reading these forums I had much misgivings on getting a KT due to amount of bugs people have been reporting... dead screen taps, SD card problems etc. I decided yesterday to get one anyway... Well... I love it. After I got it set up the way I like, Sabon Font, small margins, no side margin page numbers. It so far (yes it's only been a day and a half) has been a dream. I do occasionaly get dead screen taps but rare. I have not tried an SD card yet but as I keep my epubs backed up anyway it's not yet a big deal. I love that I can now set a time out for sleep and power off. I can short list books I want to read next rather than having to search through the library to find the next one in a series I am reading. Bookshelves however would be a great improvement.

All in all despite the critisim I find here with people having problems I am glad I went ahead and bought the KT. and fingers crossed that I don't run into those problems.

I got the KT as soon as they were available in Canada. I have had a few problems but nothing I could not work around. I love my touch and would not give it up for anything. Glad you are so far happy with yours.

Have to agree with you danger. Got my Kobo Touch about two weeks ago, and apart from the odd freeze and missed taps, it does work generally well.

And i have found the more i use it the easier the taps gets which i am guessing it just knowing where to touch for the best response out of the system

Only thing i do find annoying it that is does freeze for the strangest of reasons, going into the library or after syncing to the servers.

But all in all would gladly buy one again.

Just remember that forums can give a skewed view of a product's reliability. Only the people having difficulties post. The vast majority who have no problems, well, we never hear from them.

Kobo Touch has worked very, very well for me. A few minor problems but software updates have cured them all.

Same here. I have my gripes, but they are features that I can choose not to use (newspaper subscriptions, reading life, facebook integration).

Happy reading!

My first KT got to be a pain, because over the course of the first three weeks or so, the bottom of the screen became more and more unresponsive.

If I accidentally tapped in the centre of the screen, opening the configuration options at the bottom, I couldn't choose any of them accurately nor click on the X to close the palette; it was sheer luck that I discovered I could close it again by tapping back in the centre panel of the text. But trying to page through my Library with the page slider at the bottom was impossible — it wouldn't respond at all. In the end I was limited to reading the books that showed up on the main section of my home page.

Just as they were about to run out, I took the device back to the shop where I bought it, and they proclaimed it faulty and replaced it. The new one has been (almost!) completely trouble-free.

The human condition... We complain when things go wrong, but never rejoice when things go right
(or work properly, as the case may be!)

I, for one, really enjoy my KT. Won't leave home with out it!

Same here - no problems with the KT, it works as expected and I take most places, the battery life is good.
