Kobo Instant Reader
Before it was formally presented we had a discussion on this thread
Since when Peter first posted the link the site seems to be working a lot better. I guess this is how they're bringing back online reading which disapeared from the Kobo website. http://read.kobobooks.com/ |

It does appear to work well and have an attractive interface but I would have to be on a third party computer or something like that to read on a computer's browser myself (having so many other reading devices and always having one with me...).
I'm wondering why and who would read online if they have a reader or tablet? |

The versions they released first (other than the desktop clients) are all about Apple. This reader can be used on iPads etc for purchasing books w/o having to pass 30% on to Apple.

Yikes spoke too soon.. After trying out the Instant reader and signing in on it, it seems that my 'region' has changed somehow at kobo.com so I no longer am able to view the 'Free Ebooks' list.. Unusually, if I switch the language to French, German or Netherlands it displays the free ebooks. Not so for English. Weird.. Tried logging out and back in but still broken.
![]() Edit: I realize I can't see ANY of the booklists now.. I get 'The list "<booklist>" is empty or you may be geographically restricted from viewing its contents - try selecting a new list.' Anyone have the same problem? Last edited by Xennex1170; 05-16-2012 at 06:31 AM. |

Ah! That makes sense...Well, I'm not likely to go back to reading on my iPod Touch now that I have a tablet but I understand the reasoning. Good work-around for Apple in that case!
