All of a sudden laptop and PC don't recognise PRS600 anymore
Hello everyone! Last Saturday I added some books to my ereader no worries, but when I hooked my PRS 600 to my laptop last night to add a book I had just purchased, my laptop didn't even recognise my reader at all.
I tried a different USB port, tried a different cable, tried rebooting my laptop, tried the PC, tried the PC at work this morning but none even so much as say a device is found in the usb port ![]() Is anyone familiar with this problem and does anyone by any chance have a solution for me? The red light doesn't even come on when hooked up to the computer, but I can still charge using my wall charger. Or is there another way I (total nitwit when it comes to computers unfortunately) can delete and / or add books to my memory card somehow? Thanks for taking the time to read my post ![]() *Edit: excellent (not!) I found a telephone number for Sony technical support here in the Netherlands and after their "help" it does even less... It's frozen and will not reset anymore at all =o( So not only can I not add books anymore, I can't read anymore either. Last edited by Jasja; 05-23-2012 at 07:25 AM. |

Hi
Seems to be a hardware problem. I suggest hard-reset the reader. http://www.factory-reset.com/wiki/PRS-600 A. |

Thanks for your reply
![]() With the risk of souding weird, I couldn't even do the regular reset. I tried and all it did was make the start page freeze and an orange light started blinking. I couldn't switch it off, change to another page, reset properly... after an hour or so of feeling frustrated I handed it to my colleague, he pressed the reset button (for a normal reset) and it reset no worries. So to the weird part, I am now wondering if it could be possible that maybe I am charged with too much static electricity and maybe that's why electronic gadgets act up on me now matter how careful I am with them... Anyway, I am afraid you might be right... because when I hooked my reader up to my PC at work I think it did say something about a possible hardware problem =o/ . I will be optimistic and try once more now that it was reset normally, but I guess I might have to do the hard reset ![]() ![]() |
