Toshiba Excite
So, I went with my mom to get her manfriend/fiance/lovey-person a fathers' day gift, and she wound up getting him an Excite.
After fondling the slab a little bit, I gotta say, I'm pretty Excite-d for it. It feels like a really solid device and looks really nice. After she messed with it a bit, she admitted that she was very impressed to the point that she was contemplating keeping it for herself and getting him one of the other tablets he was saying he had his eye on, but were a bit older. Good ol' Mom. Anyone else get to play with one at all? If so, thoughts? Criticisms? Likes? Dislikes? |

There's 3 sizes. 7, 10, and 13 (I believe). She went with the 10-inch model with the 16GB.
After playing with the Thrive a week or so ago (father in law got one for work), the only thing I kinda miss on the Excite is the textured backing on the Thrive. I know that a lot of people weren't too keen on that, but I rather like it. |

I kind of like the Thrive better than the excite. I really like Toshiba's concept of the Thrive tablet. The excite, to me, is just another tablet, though it is very thin an sleek.
In the end I purchased my wife a transformer because it is a better deal and has a docking stating that enhances the tablet. On a side note the Excite 7.7" has gotten really good reviews, probably it's biggest criticism is the price of $499. =X= |

Heh, there's two 10' excites available, the 10 series and the 10 series LE. The LE is the über thin, light one. A friend of mine who lives in Holland has one, I think, and I'll ask her about it when I see her next.

Yeah. The 10-LE has a dual-core processor, where the 10 has the quad.

That 7.7 looks very sweet. No way it sells well at that price.
Hope they made a lot so I can get in on a clearance deal. |
