When I try to convert to mobi all the paragraph spaces are gone, but the most annoying is that instead of hyphen (-) symbol I get this: 3/4.
This is how I convert: I opened my book in MS2010 and saved it as HTML. Then I imported it into Calibre. From there I converted into epub. I checked it and the result was great as expected. Formatting (spaces, hyphens, etc) was all there. Finally, I used that epub to convert it to mobi. No errors during the conversion process, but the end result were a mess: no paragraph spaces, instead of the hyphen symbol there is a ¾, and lots of blank pages. I tried using different conversion methods, from epub, PDF, etc but the result once I convert into mobi is always the same ¿Any ideas? Thanks! |

The hyphen problem is a character encoding issue. You need to tell Calibre what code page your book is using. By the sound of it it's not the default "Latin 1" codepage.
You can control whether paragraphs are spaced or indented on the "Look and Feel" page of the conversion dialog. |
