Question New Kobo Touh - using Android Tablet - no way to use w/out Kobosetup?

Hi to all,

I am a very happy user of a T1 (Sony) and wanted to make a gift to my love and therefore I bought a new Kobo (It seemed to be a nice alternative to the T1)

But I am now really disappointed, because I wanted to put on it a few book I have in my Dropbox - just to make my gift "ready to read".
I am not able to switch the wifi on, and either the navigator, it alvays brings me to the "kobosetup" asking page, BUT I do not want to make an account for it, as it shuld be done by the future user ...
And I also do not have a computer to use at the moment - it must be usable without having any computer - in the future I only will be owning a Tablet !!!

Is there any way to bring books on the new Kobo, WITHOUT HAVING A KOBO ACCOUNT ???

Hope so, otherwise, it will really be unusable for me
in advance

Put the books on a micro sd card. After the person you are giving the device to sets up the reader, the card can be slipped in.

Thank you for your answer.
I rally wanted to give a ready to read device, as I don't think my friends wants to open another stupid account, to use a simple reader ...
In any case after creating an account, will it be possible to download the books via browser directly from the Dropbox account - as it is fantastic working for the Sony T1, I'm really disappointed about the Kobo and wish to have decidet to buy a T1 ...

Browser in Touch is not that stable...... Some of us have issues with downloads of material through it; other's don't.

Ok
Thanks for your answer, so it was a bad buy ... throw away a lot of money ...
Hopefully my browser will work stable, if it is so at least less bad ...
Noa I'll read something about the new firmware, and how to put it on it ...
Everything is so easy with the T1
Thanks

It is unopened and new. Return the Kobo and buy another t1, if that is how you feel.

I suggest that you install the free and wonderful Calibre program. Then just connect the Kobo to the computer with a USB cable and Calibre will transfer the books on to your device.

Thank you 46jimbo,
This is a good idea, I used to use Calibre, and it is a really good, and easy to use program, I think this will be a good solution
Maybe I also do the Kobosetup in hope to be able to use the browser as it could be sometimes useful (i.e. to check mails whilst I'm somwhere without my Tablet.

Do you know if it is worth to change the firmware?
My one ... o I just see it has the 1.9.11 - whar are you thinking about?

Thanks
Isidar
