Sony PRS-650 - Calibre newsfeed - Le Monde – Cicero – Recipes -
On my reader, the Sony PRS-650, I can’t read the French newspaper « Le Monde » every time when a picture is part of the article (however, I can on calibre). The same applies to the German monthly “Cicero”. I believe it might have to do with the recipes for the newsfeed. Is there any solution for this problem?
I do have other newspapers and journals than those downloaded with the newsfeed function of calibre that I want to store in the collection “Periodical” on the memory card of my reader. I tried everything to adapt the tags in calibre in all different ways, but I didn’t succeed. I have already read some about this problem this in other threads of this forum, but as for me I have to say: the proposed solutions didn’t work. Any other ideas? See for instance https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99374 http://oldbugs.calibre-ebook.com/ticket/8125 wonderose Last edited by wonderose; 05-14-2011 at 08:55 PM. |

Make sure your output profile in calibre is set to SONY.

Thanks for your answer!
Right at the beginning of using calibre (as some epub files wouldn't work on my PRS-650) I changed the output profile to Sony Reader. I did that in preferences - conversion - Common Options- - Page Setup. Was that what you meant? |

Yes that is what I meant. The other thing to do is make sure your are sending the files to your device with the send to device button in calibre.

Up until now the newsfeed was downloaded and managed automatically by calibre. Following your line of thought I converted the feed of Le Monde and Cicero that I had got over the last few days to a new epub file with the output profile being set to Sony reader. I then sent it manually back to the reader. But nothing changed: readable on caliber, with all kind of nice pictures attached to the text, yet unreadable on my Sony PRS-650 (as far as the articles with pictures are concerned).

Then you have to figure out what markup is causing the reader to choke and add some code to the recipe to filter it out.

That I have already tried – to no avail. For me, python code is like wandering through the jungle. In the end I always get lost. Perhaps we should move this thread to the recipes Forum.
There, by the way, I found the recipe I have been using for quite some time now: “Improved recipe for Le Monde” https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...ighlight=monde Thanks for your help! wonderose Last edited by wonderose; 04-27-2011 at 11:30 PM. |

Add a call to self.adeify_images in the preprocess function, that often fixes ADE rendering bugs.

I did this:
def preprocess_html(self, soup): for alink in soup.findAll('a'): if alink.string is not None: tstr = alink.string alink.replaceWith(tstr) return self.adeify_images(soup) But no improvement - nor even any change. Is the code how you intended it to be? Last edited by wonderose; 04-28-2011 at 07:05 AM. |

Solution
I had the same problem on my Nook. When an article contained a picture, nothing in the article showed up except the headline. The solution is to insert the following line in the recipe, in order to exclude the images at the top of some articles:
remove_tags = [dict(name='div', attrs={'class':['LM_atome']})] Hope this helps someone! |

Terrific!
After adding your line, the recipe works without fault. Thank you very much! |
