Just a SMALL point about author storage
I don't know if it is general knowledge but I noticed that authors with ( II, or III or IV etc) after their names, you know (the second, the third or the fourth etc) are stored under Author index "I" for example:-
William E. Butterworth IV Is stored under "I" not "B" ![]() I don't know what you can/want to do about it ![]() |

Calibre maintains a list of "known" suffixes to use when creating the Author_Sort string. You simply need to add to the list so that it recognizes the roman numeral suffix "IV", along with others. The list is maintained in the Tweaks section of Preferences under the "Author sort name algorithm" heading.
You can also manually correct the Author_Sort value in the Edit Metadata dialog or globally for a particular author by editing the author's name entry in the Tags window. I added several including "Pere" and "Fils" as they are the French for "Senior" and "Junior" so that the two Alexander Dumas sort correctly. |

![]() Calibre manages your e-books and can deliver them by ANY set of available data. ![]() Want to see books from Baen Books, just click Baen Books (Under Publisher). Want to only see those written by Elizabeth Moom? now hold the control key and (also) click Moon's name under the Author section . There is no need to even know where Calibre keeps those titles. Just select them, and click one of the delivery icons (Save to Device, Send to Disk or Save to folder) Done. Any selection criteria combination you have data for: (Genere) Tags, Series, Publisher, <Your custom column data>... |

Also, if you want to scroll through a list of your books manually and want the books grouped by author you need simply to click on the Author heading in the book list. The displayed list will then be sorted in alphabetical order based on the authors' names. Calibre functions very much like a traditional library. Its interface is much like the "card file" at a library, one that not only provides information about the book (title, author name, genre, publisher, ...) but will also retrieve it for you so you don't need to "walk through the stacks" in search of the actual book. |
