KT - Use WiFi without syncing all to Amazon
Hallo!
Since some weeks I´m using my new german Kindle Touch and I´m very happy with it. After my online registration on Amazon I deactivated the WiFi and only use calibre to put ebooks in the Kindle Touch, because I heard, Amazon syncs all books to its cloud. I think Amazon doesn´t have to know all about my books, because I found some interessting one in this forum and copied them to my KT. Is it possible to use WiFi without the automatic sync to Amazon? Or do you think I´m a bit paranoid and should use WiFi, don´t thinking about the sync to Amazon? ![]() Dirk |

No, they don't.
amazon saves the documents into your cloud account only if you used amazon email service to send this documents to your Kindle. BTW: this also enables you to sync last read point, highlights on the docs to cloud and with PC apps etc. |

Ah! That´s fine!
I´d like to use the email service to sync some daily newspaper to my Kindle. If you´re right, it should be no problem to use WiFi with my Kindle Touch. And it syncs the last read point etc. without syncing the books? Who does this work, without knowing the book for the read point? Best regards, Dirk |

No, it will only sync the reading position if it's either a book you've bought from Amazon, or a book you've uploaded to your personal documents.

You can turn the archiving feature off in the personal Documents settings and then you can email documents to the Kindle without them being saved on Amazon's servers.
