The K'Barthan Trilogy or at least, three quarters of it.

Hello

If you like car chases, humour, sarcasm and ooo-er, a little bit of romance, The Wrong Stuff, K'Barthan Trilogy: Part 2, might be the right stuff for you, although if you haven't read Few Are Chosen, K'Barthan Trilogy: Part 1 you might want to have a pop at that first.

For those of you who are a bit leery about strange fantasy words, K'Barthan - pronounced Kerbarthan - is the most difficult word in the whole series to read/pronounce... and numb-nuts here had to go and put it on the cover. Never mind.

The first book, Few Are Chosen, K'Barthan Trilogy: Part 1. Is set in a parallel universe and is about The Pan of Hamgee, an outlaw, with eyes in the back of his head who becomes a getaway driver - conventional job opportunities are slim when your existence is treason. Few Are Chosen has been shortlisted for the Wishing Shelf Independent Author awards in the teen fiction category - although it's mostly read by adults at the moment. Here's the blurb anyway.

The Pan of Hamgee isn’t paranoid. There must be some people in K’Barth who aren’t out to get him; it’s just that, right now, he’s not sure where they are. His family are dead, his existence is treason and he does the only thing he can to survive – getaway driving.

As if being on the run isn’t bad enough, when he finds a magic thimble and decides to keep it, he unwittingly sets himself on a collision course with Lord Vernon, K’Barth’s despot ruler.

Unwillingly, The Pan is forced to make choices and stand up for his beliefs – beliefs he never knew he had until they were challenged. But, faced with a stark moral dilemma will his new found integrity stick? Can he stop running?

The second book in the Trilogy - The Wrong Stuff, K'Barthan Trilogy: Part 2. Follows The Pan's advantures as he ends up here in Blighty, London to be precise.

The Pan of Hamgee is not a natural knight in shining armour. Yet he has escaped from police custody in K’Barth, switched realities and foiled Lord Vernon’s attempt to kidnap Ruth, the Chosen One from the Festival Hall. Pretty good, he thinks.

However, Ruth thinks otherwise. Being pursued by Lord Vernon is bad enough. Now, thanks to The Pan, she’s on the run. They are both alive, of course, but with Lord Vernon on their tail neither of them can be sure how long for.

To save her life The Pan must introduce Ruth, the woman of his dreams, to the person prophesied to be the man of hers. And he knows he must do it fast. Before Lord Vernon finds her. But the gentleman in question is in hiding and no-one knows where. Can The Pan find him? And if he does, can he bring himself to unite them?

If you're interested feel free to have a look. I'd rate them PG. British English with a dash of light swearing.

If anyone on here has read either book, feel free to have a chat or say hello.

The third book, One Man: No Plan is under construction....

If you do decide to have a look you can find both books via my author pages on a number of sites but I should add a caveat that while I can publish directly to Amazon, myself, the others are distributed via Smashwords and may take a while to ship. Anyway... most of my stuff is available from the following sites:

Kindle:
Amazon.co.uk here
Amazon.com here

Multiple formats
Smashwords here.

Nook
Barnes & Noble here

Apple
On iBooks a search for McGuire should work

[Promotional link to first book deleted - MODERATOR]

Cheers

PS, Here are two pretty pictures of the cover.

Unhappy Aaaarghhhh !!!!!!!!

Not another unfinished trilogy .................

At least, pleases remember the golden "please make this your golden" rule of trilogies - don't try to stretch it any more ....... please.

[ Oh, and try to beat Messrs Sanderson & Martin with the 3rd. ]

Ouch. Where did that come from?

I didn't realise I was supposed to starve until I'd finished the whole lot. However, I'd just like to reassure everyone that I have actualy written about 30,000 words of the third book and I have no intention of leaving it unfinished. Everyone, except for carpetmojo, of course, who really doesn't deserve the courtesy.

And while I'm having a little mini rant.

'pleases remember the golden "please make this your golden" rule': If you're going to be snarky and nasty to random authors, do take the time to punctuate it properly.

Well... that's probably killed the thread stone dead. Onwards and upwards... sigh.

Hopefully soon. The e-book is published through smashwords so will probably take a couple of weeks, the paperback usually pops up much earlier... I'll check the distribution as it should cover the States but it isn't live yet so we may have to wait until Thursday, or thereabouts, before I can say, for sure. I will post an update when it appears.

Cheers

Oh... poo.... I was hoping the B&N copies would have been nicely formatted ePub posted to B&N and not Smashwords meatground versions.

Would you like to do nicely formatted ePub for B&N instead of the meatground versions?

Well, it "comes from" the fact that some trilogies seem to take a long time to reach the third leg, as has been noted here before, and not a particular attack on you personally. Quite the contrary, I hope any series doesn't go that way, especially if I'm reading and hooked by it ! So I'm very pleased on your behalf that you have made a decent start, as it were. So thank you for the courtesy, even though I may not deserve it.

"...And while I'm having a little mini rant...."
Go to it, everyone else does !

" .....'pleases remember the golden "please make this your golden" rule':If you're going to be snarky and nasty to random authors, do take the time to punctuate it properly......"

Well, sorry about the extra "s", late night fatigue, actualy, oops actually, but apart from that I think the puncuation is as I wish it to read.
And I wasn't, to my mind, being "nasty", rather expressing, again, feelings that have been brought up before here, and nothing random about the authors whatsoever - and mine were quite gentle, I thought.( I'm afraid I don't know the vernacular "snarky" ). I do so hate anyone being "nasty", my dear.

Well... that's probably killed the thread stone dead. Onwards and upwards... sigh.
Oh, I doubt that ........
We're a pretty broad-minded lot here, no need for sighs ......

[ again, sorry about the format - I 'll sort it out eventually !!

Carpetmojo, thanks for clearing that up, I'm ashamed to say I have clearly misread your sense of humour... or left mine at the door there. Sorry about that.

JSWolf I apologise. I am not a huge fan of the meatgrinder, myself and I would love to be able to upload a properly formatted e-pub to B&N. Indeed I have a lovely one of the first book, built in Sigil and converted prettily in Calibre but I'm British, living in the UK and when I last looked, that meant Barnes & Noble wouldn't let me do pubbit direct. Also Smashwords don't withhold and I suspect B&N would and trust me it's a big phaff to sort out the withholding.

BThrowsnail Hello there. I did hang out here a lot ages ago and yes, I hope to get back into the habit.

Hello if anyone's interested I'm doing an author interview on goodreads right now. So, if you're a member and you want to pop over and say hello you can find it here you may have to join the writers and readers group to post but they're a good bunch and it's not a hassle.

Oh and you can also get a free .epub or .mobi of Few Are Chosen, K'Barthan Trilogy: Part 1 - the prequel to the book this thread is here to plug by joining in the bookplex giveaway. Rules, information and my book listing are on this page.

Cheers
