Son in Sorrow: Victorianesque epic fantasy
![]() The sequel to the critically-acclaimed Lovers and Beloveds: Prince Temmin incurred his father's wrath when he took Supplicancy in the Lovers' Temple; his devotion to the Gods outweighed his father's rage. Now he faces a greater challenge: his forbidden love for Allis, the human host of the goddess Neya. If he doesn't conquer his emotions, he may bring the Lovers' deadly fury down on them both--but pride and desire stand in his way. When a murder rips his greatest support from him, Temmin turns to the magic book of his ancestors to find answers to his need both for revenge and for a woman he must not love. All the while, enemies inside and outside the kingdom are plotting against the monarchy, and the gods prove once again they are no one's friends. Set in a Victorianesque world of magic, sexuality, political intrigue and military conquest, Son in Sorrow is the second book in the epic fantasy series An Intimate History of the Greater Kingdom. CRITICS SAY: "There are scads of boy-turns-into-man stories out there, and usually they just scratch the surface, as if making a few hard decisions and killing monsters is enough to do the job. It's not. And Miranda does a brilliant job showing this."-- Keryl Raist, To Publish or Not blog "[The Intimate History of the Greater Kingdom series is] often compared to George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, and for good reason, but I find the comparison sells these Intimate Histories short. ... Miranda may not write battle scenes as well as Martin, though she is no slouch in that department, but her understanding of and compassion for her characters is far greater, her magical and theological conceits better thought out and more thematically and aesthetically consistent, her insights into the human psyche keener." -- Kate Sherrod, Kate of Mind review blog $4.95: DRM-free and available at Amazon US, UK, DE, FR, ES and IT Smashwords Barnes & Noble Direct from the author (pdf, mobi and epub) Last edited by MeiLin; 04-20-2012 at 01:57 AM. Oooh congratulations on the new book. I haven't read the first yet although I still seem to have it on my 2012 list so I'll see how I go.
