Amazon announced today that they are shipping the Kindle Touch 3G model to 175 countries and territories ahead of the previously announced shipping date.

Good for Australia as well. I do find it interesting though, that both the touch Kindles are actually more expensive than the Sony PRS-T1 here.

Yes I have had one on order and was informed it was shipping early.

You think it is because sales slowing down in the US? Could be but I think it is more likely a reaction to Kobo planning an international launch

Yes. If you hold down a letter for a second you get a pop-up showing all its accented variants. See the attached photo, in which I've held down the letter "a" for a second.
