I gave my original Kindle to my dad a year ago, and it's still chugging along, looks like new. This is one I got as a refurb about 3 years ago.

Hmm, since the original one is chugging along my three has a long way to go before I need to upgrade.

My K1 is working as fine as ever (though it does have a small hairline crack in the keyboard area). I know I'm odd, but I like the form factor and operation of the original better than any newer Kindle; it's the updated screen and a few firmware features (e.g., chapter markers) that lead me to use my K3 more often.

While I do not have an original kindle I have seen many of them on my commute and the only thing original kindle owners gripe about is the wedge shape of the device and the fact that the keys are titled - All things that I think I could live with if I had bought an original kindle. At the time the price tag of the device was way to high for me I imagined a price I wanted to pay and waited and eventually I got it, although today I could get a better price than that.
