Need some Opinions
For my job certifications and knowing how to "admin" something is necessary. But certification/training textbooks are just to expensive and heavy.
I'm in front of a computer for about 9 hours a day. At the end of the day my eyes are differently a bit strained and sore. The last thing I want to do is hop on the train and stare at another LCD screen for 45 minutes on my way home. I've been waiting and waiting for Amazon to update the Kindle DX but they haven't done anything to it. So I'm left with getting a tablet or the Onyx M92. I pulled the trigger and got the M92. While my eyes are thanking me my wallet and part of me is having second thoughts. The biggest issue is the cost and value of the device. The M92 is very expensive, I paid $429, for about 50-75 dollars more I could have gotten a tablet. While the E-ink addresses my strained and sore eyes I can't help feel like I'm not getting my money's worth when you compare it to a tablet. The seconds thing is the firmware. While my device hasn't shown any bad signs it doesn't make me feel secure when a number of people are having frozen or failing devices due to firmware issues. So the question is should I should return the M92 and get a Kindle DX (live with the slower page turns), get a tablet and burn my eyes out some more or just keep the M92 |

While ultimately I am the only one who can answer the question, the more feedback I get the better I can make that decision.

I use a DX for my technical manuals and I like it, but as calibrated said, your mileage may vary.

As the owner of an M90, and a Kindle DX, I find myself using the DX. Battery life is infinitely better. The M90 needs to be shut off (mine does, anyhow), or if it is in sleep mode the battery will be completely dead in 48 hours. Onyx customer support leaves a lot to be desired.
That said, there are lots of happy M92 owners in the Boox subforum. Which unit is better is very much a matter of personal preference. |
