I believe it is a Japanese e-book library, but I don't have a Facebook account. Obviously you can access it from outside Japan and that bodes well.

Are you sure it's ebooks? This page makes it look like a way to join multiple libraries with a single online account - and automatic Facebook logging (ugh!). The example seems to be a physical book. Though I suppose if the participating libraries offer ebooks then maybe they'll be part of this scheme too?
Actually the more I look at it, the more it looks like it might be a way for people with collections of books to set themselves up as a "library" and offering those books for lending through this site. Needs someone who doesn't rely on Google translate to look at it though. |

I found it offered by an IT Café. The offering was that you could borrow books, but since I don't have a Facebook account (and I'm not about to get one either) I couldn't get into it. It is a bit surprising that they require a FB account since the largest social network in Japan is Mixi rather than FB. Being an IT Café I assumed the books were electronic (come to think of it I belive it said something about e-books), hand in an ID card and they let you borrow iPads to read on.
