I doubt you could get anything to work without recompiling the kernel to get the device drivers you would need?

reading through: http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Ethernet-HOWTO.html have the feeling that ethercards have been around so long this may be doable... |

I suppose you will still need to add USB Host Mode support to Kindle.

http://www.linux-usb.org/usbnet/
the simplest possible likely solution might for example be: modprobe usbnet FATAL: Module usbnet not found modprobe dm9601 FATAL: Module dm9601 not found davicom dm9601 is cheap, popular and in my toolbox... A few Kindle Fire developers would like ethernet too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1813342 selection of reasons provided... willing to trial if anyone has ideas... |

I really wish I had time to finish this. However time is against me right now. (I would've done it before now but for the cable, hey ho) Last edited by twobob; 02-20-2013 at 06:38 AM. |

Further work still needs to be done such that it becomes possible to connect also normal hubs to the Kindle. Only reason why you need a powered hub is that the Kindle's USB port notices that there is activity on the port and wakes it up from low power suspend mode. |
