PRS-T1 To Update or Not?

Well, I just got my T1 (my first reader) after a 2 month wait, but it was worth it. I side-loaded about 100 books via calibre and started reading. There have been no problems whatsoever (I am mesmerized, thrilled, hooked, addicted! so much better than reading on the lcd screens... but that is another story

)

When I connected my T1, I was expecting it to try to register and load Adobe on my pc, but it didn't. Did I do something wrong?

How can I manually load the updates and get the Adobe program or did I miss a step not listed in the quick-start guide it came with?

As I cannot I use the Sony Store from Austria, so that is a non-issue.

You get the adobe ADE program from Adobe. It is free but AFAIK does not come from Sony.

does that mean going to the adobe website and just downloading? boy do I feel dumb right now.

and how do i register my device? i don't use the wlan at the moment and don't really want to set that up. can't i do it through my pc?

I don't remember how to register your device but I am sure it is straightforward and can be done via USB.

Just download and register ADE if you haven't already and plug in your reader I think.

ADE does not recognize prs-t1.

You must install the ADE to authorize the PC with adobe id,
then install Reader for PC ( sony's program for managing the ebooks , is already on the second partition of t1 "setings")
and with this program authorizes the prs-t1.

And make sure that your Adobe ID and Sony Reader Store id are the same - or you may hit the wall with different versions of those programs...

Thank you all. Today I downloaded both adobe and the sony reader to my pc and tried to register. I used the same email etc. but the sony reader, etc. it that my "id"? I certainly hope so.

Sony didn't like my location (I am in Europe) and kept kicking me out or asking me to redownload the reader. Oh well, I knew that the Sony store is US locked, etc. and pretty much useless to me anyway.

I'll get the hang of it!

First; you need to register on the adobe site; email address which you are use will be your Adobe ID.

Second; install "Adobe Digital Edition" from the Adobe site, and from the program on your computer you have to authorize your PC.

Third: in your Sony prs-t1 you already have the program "Reader for PC" from Sony, it's on the second partition "settings" and you just install it from there.
