Merging/Combining Ebooks?
I have books around 100 volumes and I'd like to subdivide them so that 20 volumes are in each file (20 vols per book). I tried the "merge and delete" option and the final product was just the first highlighted book with the other 19 missing.
Perhaps "merge" isn't what I think it is? Any help/input would be nice. |

Calibre is about managing an eBook collection - it is not an eBook editing system. The merge facility in Calibre is about merging the information about two book entries in the Calibre database into a single entry - not merging the contents of the underlying eBooks.
I am afraid that what you want to do has to be done outside Calibre. What would be an appropriate tool will depend on what format the books are in. If you mention the format you may get some appropriate suggestions. |

If your source is HTML or EPUB,: You might be able to use Sigil(next forum down) to build your bigger book. |

PDF:
Use a pdf merging utility. Calibre comes with one that is command line only called pdf-manipulate. EPUB using Sigil:
You now have a single EPUB. Other Formats: Use the same steps as EPUB but substitute EPUB for a format calibre can use as conversion input. |

combining several one-page ePub books into one
Hello there,
i am new to this forum, and new to the world of ePub. so i am working on converting a website into an ePub, but each page makes its own book and even after reading through the whole of the internet world i don't seem to be able to find the way. Any suggestions? |

Doesn't dotEpub only do one web page at a time still? I use a Firefox extension called "GrabMyBooks" - http://www.grabmybooks.com/ - but obviously that's only useful if you use Firefox as your browser.
The other method is to use a web mirroring tool to get multiple web pages saved on your hard disk, then convert those on mass to an eBook. I use "wget" to do the mirroring but it's a very user-unfriendly command line tool so I wouldn't really recommend it. Andrew |
