I just started using ebooks and audio books this year.

I'm looking for a ereader and haven't decided but have ruled out a few such as Kindle [real bad experience with their Kindle for PC and their idiotic replies] and figure I will eventually find one that suits. Until then Calibre on my netbook is keeping me happy.

Thanks for the welcome and I thought I would let you know that I got an ereader.

It's the Libre Pro Reader. What made the decision for me was the price. It was on clearance for 33 dollars. I decided for that price, it would at least get my feet wet and I didn't want the extras so it is now in the mail.

Hello and welcome to MobileReads. The Kindle unit is way better than the Kindle apps availible in my opinion. If you are in the US, BestBuy has a pretty good return policy. If you buy a Kindle there and decide you don't like it, you can retunr it easily.

We will not speak of the 3 hours I tried to get a Kindle to work and their site to download books. I used words I haven't used since I was in the Navy. Or as my wife at the time use to say when I was working on the computer and turned beet red "Oh you are going to say those words again... I'm leaving the house."

So I tried to download to the Kindle PC program in case it was the Kindle. It downloaded and wiped out the book as soon as it was downloaded. That was another two hours. So I tried the Cloud. Not bad. The shortest time to turn a page was 30 seconds. The longest was when it just spun helplessly until I restarted it. Considering I am a speed reader, it was Hades on earth.

Amazon Quote of the Day? "We aren't sure why it is doing this. Try..." Um I already did twits if you had read my email at all.

The epub was downloaded, up reading and Calibre was flipping pages in seconds with the center mouse wheel with no break in my reading.

I'm sorry but after that and the "We don't know why it doesn't work" from Amazon, they couldn't give me a Kindle. I would sell it and buy a Nook.
