Naming epubs in Calibre
Hi Guys;
I'm new to the forum so I apologize in advance for any newbie idiocy. (although yes, I searched the forums first) I'm organizing my library and want to have Calibre name my books like this; Author-Book Title.epub I can do this by switching the author and title in the meta data but of course the meta data is wrong. Is there a way to ensure I have the correct meta data but still have Calibre output my epubs named the way I want? (I'd love to have them read like "Author-Year-Title.epub That would be fantastic but beggars cant be choosers) Zip |

(I'll assume that a Mod will move this thread to the Calibre Forum)
There is nothing that stops you from changing the name of the book to for example" Austen-Emma" without affecting the author metadata. But I think that the easiest way is to skip modifying the titles, and use Calibre's plugboard function to add the information you want. Dear Author have a good tutorial here. I hope this helped ![]() Last edited by mikaelalind; 02-21-2012 at 09:49 AM. |

![]() Save to Disk/Send to Device have Templates control the EXPORT file name and path: {authors}-{pubdate}-{title} should do it (the file extension is automatic and dependent on the format sent) |

Hey Ducky, do you realise just how totally unintelligible your answer would be to a noobie? We haven't got around to templates yet!

If you are saving to disk, look in Preferences -> Saving books to disk -> Save template. There are more examples in Plugboard, template, and custom composite column recipes but they are all more complicated than you want. They do give you an idea of what is possible though. |

Hi guys;
Thanks for the ton of help. I've got it almost perfect now. Sometimes when I try to do a bunch at once the text isn't there. (I don't know how to make myself clearer except that the contents of the book are gone) Do I have to "convert" every time or can I just load them into calibre and then "save only epub format to a single directory"?
