This week at Walmart, the Kindle Fire is $149 ($199 + free $50 GC). That makes three Kindle Fires still cheaper than an iPad.

OK, I recently bought an iPad and am in the honeymoon period, but when I pick up a friend's Kindle, it always feels... I don't know... kind of limited... I guess that's the point, just to be able to focus on the book(s) you are reading, but for me, I get the urge to check my email etc every so often when I'm reading a book on my iPad

Those that love the kindle fire, that is awesome. But I wouldn't trade my iPad for 10 fires. i use it for far more than ever thought i would......just my opinion.

It's true that's it's not an iPad, and it's not a PC, but if you happen to want what it is (and it's a good number of good things), it's an outstanding deal.

I mean, seriously, 90% of the time, I watch videos, surf the web, and play Angry Birds...can you tell me that the vast majority of owners of any tablet do more than that...?

I am curious, since I don't own an iPad, but just played with them in stores for a bit: As this is the first generation Fire, and the first iPad also had no camera, and no expandable memory, what is the 'everything else' you are referring to that made it worth three times the price?

The bigger screen is a given, but that also adds weight and diminished portability, so I see that as tie depending on your preference.

What else is a big differentiation?

That was a great ad. Direct to the point and factual. Naturally an iPad ad should fire back with some functions or noticeable performance edge not currently available on the combined Kindles.

That would imply they see the Fire as competition. I doubt we'll see an Apple ad like that.
