PRS-T1 suddenly discharges
Hi.
This happened twice for me for three weeks of using. At evening reader is charged over 80%, at morning it is fully discharged. Any ideas? ps: I have WiFi switched off. Last edited by rmrfchik; 02-03-2012 at 02:51 AM. Reason: note about wifi |

Check to see if your audio player is on too.

There's also been comments on Sony's forum that some (faulty I guess) e-pubs can drain the battery if you leave them open and put the reader to sleep.
So if you usually leave the book you're reading open try going back to the homescreen when you're finished reading in the evening. |

I don't really subscribe to the faulty epub theory. If I can open them in various reader software (including two from Sony) on my PC they should open and read on the T1.
Not saying they can't cause a problem, but can't imagine why they should. Helen |

It's not unusual for a program (like the epub reader) to 'crash', or in this case, get stuck in a logic loop that runs the processy at 100%, when chewing on bad data (or otherwise runs into a error that it is unable ot handle.). Since we can't see any kind of process monitor on these e-reading devices, the only user visible symptom to something like that would be a rapidly draining battery, (and perhaps a slight reduction in the interactive performance of other programs, if you're somehow multi-tasking.)

@rashkae
I am not saying it doesn't happen. Pretty sure it does. Just that I think that software on a dedicated reader should be as robust as that for the PC or Mac etc. Not that they are perfect. That said nothing is perfect. Helen |

The drainage topic I've heard of is the fact that, if you leave it charging overnight for example, on the PC, the PC sometimes - not always - throws a tizzy, has a funny turn, goes to sleep, whatever, which changes the charge into a drain.
So I always charge from the mains with a mains charger - doesn't have to be an expensive Sony one by the way, just nothing Apple-y. And it does give a better charge - don't ask me why, it just does - and a lot quicker. ![]() |

Well, it's not case when I left reader connected to PC.
I suppose this is because I left reader with heavy PDF opened. May be reader application do not fall to sleep because of, say, bug or something. This pdf is kinda hard to display for PRS-T1, you can check http://machineofdeath.net/ebook |

Make sure you "power off" just putting it to sleep leaves stuff running
