Why the library folder name contain a calibre id

in the folder structure of the Calibre library, it seems like:
a book titled with "title a" ,author is "autohr" ,it will be:

author/title a(2)/author-title a.ext

what is this id use for? should I remove it?

and I also saw the Preference --> save books to disk,
the template is
{author_sort}/{title}/{title} - {authors}

and...where is the calibre id variable ?

Read the Sticky https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=119175

There is NO SAVE for the main Calibre Library, only Cancel (for some edits)
Save is EXPORT to a disk (or a device that only behaves like a disk)

The ID is there in case you have two writers in database that have identical name.
Look at the thread linked in previous post.
Calibre Library folder is used exclusively by Calibre to store books and you should not use that folder yourself. Do not add books to it manually, because you would cause chaos. Do not copy books from Calibre library by going manually to the Calibre Library folder, use "export" functionality instead. This is because Calibre does not update metadata in files, such as epub when you edit book metadata - title, author, series. The metadata is only updated when the book is "exported" using "save to disk" menu item, or "load to the device".

Thanks to all of you above for response me.

Is that mean I just pay no attention to this id number, and just leve it alone?

Now I have read the sticky thread twice, because the English is not my first language, I just didn't get it at first.

Yes. Those files belong to Calibre and Calibre needs this id number.
Consider directory/folder called "Calibre Library" closed database that is managed by Calibre program. To make system very robust in case some files (or the main database file) gets damaged, everything is kept in nicely named and separated files. For normal operation you do not need touch those files.

When you need to use files from Calibre, use function [right click on book] "Save to disk" and save the book to a directory of your choice.
You can configure EXACTLY what and how gets copied to this export directory. Plus files are updated with the the most recent metadata when they are copied.

Usually you just connect your device to PC with Calibre running and you can send files to your device. So there is no need to access files. Here you can also configure everything.
