I think someone made a mistake . . . but I bought one anyway, hoping it is true!

For approximately $32 US, I had to go for it. It's not so much that if this is a scam, I won't feel taken for a huge amount, just more wary in the future. If it truly is a new DXG then wow.

And it ships after the payment clears. Uh huh, the check is in the mail too. Seems like I've heard that one before.

Since the seller accepts PayPal you can just report it and eBay/PayPal will refund you the money if you pay using PayPal.

I just bought one with PayPal. Hopefully it is legit, but I have a feeling it isn't. The email used for the PayPal payment goes to -------@sina.com which is a site in China, but the seller is in the UK. Also, if you check the seller's history it's mostly women's clothing and no tech stuff at all.

I can imagine (if I try hard enough) a scenario or 2 where this might be legit.

We have had good success in the past with ebay/paypal buyer's protection so, as you say -- we'll see! The seller is also offering a large number of Turtle (?) headphones for the same price, also starting today. I wrote them (the seller) a note. Will let you know if I hear back.

Meanwhile, the search for a new reader for my husband is either over or on hold.

Cute little old lady, selling used women's clothing and shoes, who can't ship items outside the UK, suddenly selling "more than 10" Kindle DX's and wireless Turtle Beach headphones for 19.99 pounds on the weekend, with free international shipping, and the ads are in a totally different format than all of her other ads, and the payments are to someone in China... Nawwww, that CAN'T be a scam.

I reported it to ebay.

Ebay says item not for sale. Bummer. I wanted 10 of them at that price. They must have sold all of them.

Good thing the "scammer"'s PayPal was new and he wasn't able to take the money until he shipped something so I just cancelled my payment.
I knew this was too good to be true, but I also really wanted a $30 Kindle DX for comics and my parents =(

Note also that PayPal and eBay buyer protection is waived if you send money with the 'gift' option, the way a lot of these sellers ask you to do. It also stops PP from getting their cut of the sale in service fees. Also the same reason you saw deeply discounted items with shipping and handling fees equal to the retail cost of said item - those were non-refundable and didn't count towards the eBay seller fees.
