Propagating Catalog Customization
I have several Calibre catalogs and am in the process of tweaking my
preferences such as customized columns and so forth. If I make a change to a catalog it appears to affect only that one catalog. How can I propagate any such configuration changes over all my catalogs without manually changing each one? These appear to be controlled individually by the metadata file found in each catalog. Is there any easy way? |

What format are you using?
CSV, BIB, Epub, Mobi, Xml In any case from my understanding, you just get a list of books in that format, then a copy of that file in calibre. Its not hot linked or refreshable. What I'm doing at present is a few Catalogues, in CSV, ie excel I have one Sheet that I have as a template, so once the other catalogues are created I just copy the data and put it into my sheet. |

I have installed Calibre and use it to control several catalogs, about six or so. As I switch from catalog to catalog I have noticed that customization changes I have made to one library does not automatically carry over to another library.
For example, I have added some columns in one Calibre library but those changes do not reflect in other libraries when I switch to a different library. I have also made some color tweaks in one of these columns. I would like to propagate these changes across all of my libraries. Can this be does easily, or will it be necessary to manually alter every library individually in order to reflect these changes? The file format is irrelevant since this is a catalog configuration issue and not dependent on any individual file configuration. |

Catalog is a special book (see the arrow on the conversions menu) created from the Library Metadata. When you create a Library, there is an option to create using the current one as a model. You should be able to recover in most cases:all field names in old_wrong one must exist, EXACTLY. in New_one or they will be lost From the Library of the style you want them to be: Create Library: Create empty Library : tick Use Existing Structure ow switch to the Old Bad Library . Select books: right-click: Copy to Library (New Library) Verify thing are swell Repeat You can delete the old Library (via the OS, so be careful) when you are happy. Then you can use the Library tool to rename the New Library as desired. |

OK. Any way you cut it they must be done one at a time.
I was afraid of that. It would probably be quicker to just make the changes to each individual library as it takes a while to copy/delete. Thanks. |

I used to have 4 libraries and went back to one after similar problems. Occasionally I want a subset and will create a new library on that occasion.
It would be a nice feature to be able to change a database structure based on another structure in a different database, but I suspect this could take a long time as well. Perhaps you should put in a feature request. Helen |
