So, I've put in the update

and I'm not noticing a lot of really significant differences.

Main menu: minor tweaks, nothing too exciting. I keep getting graphical glitches.

Netflix: You have to download the netflix app separately and all it's done so far is complain about "problems", then make me enter my email and password again.

Any one else notice anything dramatic?

Updated manually (onto my dualboot partition).

Netflix app downloaded ok, is running, but appears a bit laggy.

Haven't noticed other glitches.

New stuff:
  • Landscape reading mode for epubs
  • Support for the Comic book format, lots of Marvel and other comics now available.
  • more fonts sizes
  • Direct access to dictionary, now you can type in the word you want to look up.
  • The apps are easier to get to and integrated into the library
  • Apps now detect when they need updating and do so upon request.
  • New shopping interface
  • easier access to the recommended books and books by the author UI element.
  • Netflix

Netflix also works well for me, we were watching movies over the corporate lan without any issues. We had some lag at first since we were updating numerous apps. Once those downloads stopped we were fine.

Still no support for listing books by series.

No complaints here, definitely an improvement over something I already considered a good product and Netflix, Comics, Hulu are all welcome additions although 95% of my time is spent reading. Landscape mode is also a nice addition.

The one thing that continues to surprise me however is the fact the Nook app for my Android tablet has some nice effects like, a two page layout for landscape mode and page curl effects that are missing from the Nook.

You do get a two page layout in landscape mode with the 1.4 update, but this depends on the font size. With a larger font you get only 1 page.

For most ePubs, the top two font size choices will only be a single column layout.

A few more Reader enhancements for you:
- Zoom in on images in an ePub (double tap the image)
- Much better PDF Reading using 'Reader' as opposed to QuickOffice
- which goes with support of 'PagePerfect' ( DRM'd PDFs)
- Better margin/font/other handling for ePubs when not in 'Publisher Defaults' (by ignoring conflicting CSS from the document)

(I'm still working on getting series - well automatically generated folders based upon metadata - into the Library)

Thank you in advance. This is the one thing that I really am surprised has not been implemented yet.

Looks like I may just need to upgrade to the Nook Tablet after reading these reviews.

Thanks for pointing that out. The book I am currently reading will only default to the two page lay-out when using the two smallest font sizes. I will try some others and see if any larger font sizes are available.

Why would anyone want to read in 2-pg setup landscape view? You see more on the screen in smaller fonts and harder to read? Besides, truth be told, it is only a two column text view. It fools the eyes into seeing a spread layout.

You can delete side-loaded books and random stuff in the file manager. No move files that I've seen, but deleting stuff is an improvement.

All they need to do is add a "move files" thing for the file manager and I won't need CM7...is that too much to ask? LOL

A couple of posts mentioned Hulu on the 1.4 update. Has anyone installed it? I can't find the app.
