Tuff-Luv Case for PRS 650, is it good?

Hi

I am looking a for a nice light-weight cover/case for my prs650.

I have had the pink i-gadgitz for 8 months. It works fine except that after being used for so long, the leather seems to widen itself. Consequently, the reader moves around in it so much that I am not sure that the cover will protect the reader anymore. Also, it is a bit heavy for my small poor wrist.

Has anyone used this Tuff-Luv Leather case http://www.amazon.com/Tuff-Luv-Leath...6316117&sr=8-1 ? Does it work well to protect the reader? Can it be folded all the way to the back? How about access to all the buttons and ports?

Thanks
Anne

I'm going to watch this thread too.

I currently have this case. It's nice, and good quality, and it has a slot inside for the stylus. Kind of redundant, since it fits in the reader, but maybe good for a spare. I've only used the stand at the back a couple of times but it's pretty sturdy.

I really want a case with a cover that folds all the way back though, so hopefully someone will answer.

I don't have that specific case, but I have had a slightly different Tuff Luv case for my 650 for about a year now with no problems at all. I also had a Tuff Luv case for my Sony 505 which gave sterling service.

I have the same case too (except it's Pink). I like it enough except that it becomes too loose for the reader after 8 months of heavy use.

Hi Bilbo, which Tuff Luv case do you have? The Tree of Life? Anyway, is it heavy? Does it cover the buttons (I heard that the early version of Tuff-Luv had the holes cut too close to the buttons, especially the Home button)

Thanks

It's this one.

I prefer the flip style and, as I said, I've had it for over a year now with no issues. I don't find it over heavy for my taste and I have had no problems at all accessing any of the buttons.

I have one of these covers for my 650 - http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05...476&t_mode=des
I have one for my old 600 too and I've found them to be very hard wearing.

I've got one like that one for my 350 a year ago and I love it. It's really handy when your flying it holds your i.d. and a pocket to hold your plane tickets.

Mine is still in great shape and it is easy to hold in one hand. The closure is magnetic so you can fold the front to the back and the magnetic closure works so that you can loop your index finger through and hold it easy.

Great for right-handed people.

Oh one little gripe I did have at the beginning was I had to stretch or pull up on the top part of the leather because it would go into the book area a little.

I just kept stretched it up until it was high enough and it has been fine since.

I don't have that exact Tuff-Luv case, but I have the similar one made from hemp (this one: http://tuff-luv.com/eco-nique-natura...e-of-life.html). I've never had any problem accessing the buttons/ports/stylus. While it's gladly never had to take any really hard falls, it fell once hitting the floor on its' corner while in the case. The reader survived without any damage and still works today.

It fell on the corner where the the stylus is, so the stylus came loose a little bit and took some minor damage to its' paintwork, but that survived the fall without any other damage as well. I think the stylus would have come loose in the same way with any case that allowed free normal access to it.

Hope this helps.

Edit: And yes, the cover of the hemp one at least can be folded all the way to the back. The pocket in the inside front of the case is useful as well.

Thanks for the response. Btw, I have just seen a Sony Premium Standard Cover on ebay and tempted to buy it instead. I wonder if the Sony cover is better/worse than the Tuff-Luv? What is the Sony cover made of (leather, PU)?

Thanks

Thought I'd mention this--when I was in the Staples the other day, they had several different cases for the new Amazon Kindle Touch. Out of curiosity, I tried these on my Sony 650 and it fit in them almost perfectly. I didn't buy one, and don't remember who the manufacturers of the various cases were (I think mEdge was one). I wouldn't recommend ordering one sight unseen, but if you're looking for a case for your 650, you might try some of the new Kindle Touch cases.

Almost perfectly is not good enough. If you are going to bother with a case, you'd be best off getting one that is a perfect fit. And for the T1, with straps is usually a bad idea as the straps can cover the power button and the silver buttons (just the sides of the first and last buttons) as well as the top corners.

Come on JSWolf! First--I'm talking about the 650 (which is what this thread is about) not the T1. I'm actually thinking about getting a new case for my 650--and am considering getting these. The ones I tried didn't cover the buttons and my 650 fit snugly. I don't remember if the ones I tried had straps on them or not--just remember being impressed by how well they fit my 650. As I said in my earlier post, I wouldn't suggest buying one of these covers without trying them first, but they certainly are a viable option for the 650--especially considering cases for the 650 are getting to be very hard to come by!
