New Calibre user, very perplexed!

I recently downloaded Calibre. When I add a book it adds two lines to the main page. One line with the usual title, author, etc., another line of nonsense characters as the title and which uses <0.01 MB.

I deleted a couple of these odd "books" and it doesn't seem to affect the real books, but I'm trying to figure out WHY I get these extras and how to NOT get them. I have 1600 books to bring in to Calibre and don't relish the idea of 1600 deletions.

Any ideas?

How, and from where are you importing the books? Are these mobi/azw from either My Kindle Content or from your kindle? If so, your probably adding the mbp-files. They keep track of notes&marks, and where you are in a book.

I am adding from My Kindle Content after downloading the book to my Kindle for PC app. I'm not going to be too concerned about deleting those files, then.

Thanks for the response!

Only the .azw file in your My Kindle Content folder is the book. The other files that are sent with the book get used by your Kindle for PC app to sync page numbers and whatnot so you should only add the .azw file to calibre.
