Latest version of Calibre?
I am currently running Calibre v0.8.33, which I downloaded from CNET, and which shows up at a number of sites if you Google it.
However, I became suspicious when it offered me an UPDATE to v0.8.32! Then I went to Kovid's own site, and the latest version there is 0.8.32. I downloaded this and tried to install it, and was told by the installer that i had a newer version already installed. I could presumably work around this by uninstalling 0.8.33, and installing 0.8.32 in its place, but don't want to lose my database of over 1000 books. Any advice? Regards... Bernard |

Uninstalling and re-installing does not affect your books. Note that 0.8.33 should be officially released in a few hours. I'm guessing CNET picked it up automatically from the project page.

I usually download Calibre from the Google Code download page (much, much faster than SourceForge). The source and Mac binary are already available for download but the Linux and Windows binaries are not. Not in a hurry to get the updates. Just thought I'd mention the oversight.

They're available here: http://code.google.com/p/calibre-ebo...downloads/list
See this as to why: http://code.google.com/p/support/issues/detail?id=6036 Generally speaking, you should always use the download link on the calibre website, it automatically redirects to the correct file on google code. Last edited by kovidgoyal; 12-30-2011 at 10:49 PM. |

CNet wraps downloads in their own spyware-laden installer. I would not download anything from them if I can get it elsewhere. In calibre's case, just follow the link from the app itself, or from the calibre web page. That way you'll always get the right file without any other crap.
