Red face Djvu file on Macbook

I could not open Djvu file on calibre on my 2011 Macbook.
The book has 1800 pages, when I double click on the book it opens default reader "Calibre" then fan runs full speed for about 5 mins and then I get to see one blank page.
Can calibre read Djvu files if so then what am i doing wrong?
I checked the input options and found out that Djvu is there.
I would appreciate your help

You're not doing anything wrong the calibre viewer is essentially an ePub viewer so everything is converted to basic ePub prior to viewing. From the FAQ I found the following:

What formats does calibre support conversion to/from?

Note: DjVu support is only for converting DjVu files that contain embedded text. These are typically generated by OCR software.
This means that calibre will only convert (view) the embedded text from DjVu files. I'm guessing your DjVu file doesn't have embedded text. If you have a DjVu app on your computer you typically use for viewing you can go to Preferences - Behavior and uncheck the DJVU box under the Use internal viewer for column and calibre will no longer be used for viewing DjVu files.

If you need an app to view these files check DjVu.org.

Thanks for your reply, I ended up on the FAQ area and downloaded a program for Mac
