Baen's ebooks website gets a makeover

The website that sells Baen Publishing's ebooks, as well as ebooks from a few other small publishers, has had a makeover and has a new web address. It's now to be found at http://www.baenebooks.com/ They still offer the same range of ebooks, including their monthly bundles which are now sensibly called "Monthly Baen Bundles". It's nice to see that independents are still around, despite Amazon's dominance. Last edited by pdurrant; 01-02-2012 at 04:10 PM. |

Also, if you have a link, etc, to the old Webscriptions site, there's an automatic redirect in place, so it shouldn't be an issue.

As someone who spends way to much money buying Baen books I think it is great that they are investing in there web site. Now what I would really like to see is for them to expose a services API such that we could purchase book directly from within Calibre.

Arnold Bailey retired from running Webscriptions in late 2010 and Mark Van Name (one of the Baen authors) took over running it. My guess is that they finally replaced the software and/or hardware it was using when Arnold ran the site.

Navigating the new website doesn't feel that much different than their old one. I had a couple purchases from earlier this year - oops, make that 2011 - and they are still available for me to redownload which is nice. Vic |

If you have Baen send books directly to your Kindle, remember to go to Amazon and change the "allowed email address" to the new one.
